The San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all involved for another successful tree lighting! The Island Light Festival was a wonderful and festive event, filled with community spirit and holiday cheer. The dedication and hard work of Casey Baisch and his team of elves worked for weeks on getting the lights in place. We had cookies and cocoa from Riptide Café and thank them as well as Benj Ross, Santa Claus, the Town of Friday Harbor and Island Rec who all contributed to the success of the event. Our new location was named the Christmas Tree in November 1990 and dedicated to all the MIA’s of all the wars by the American Legion.
The entertainment provided by Angel Michaels and the Island Chordsmen Plus, as well as the Elementary School Treblemakers, led by Shannon Danskine, was a delightful touch to the evening. And of course, the visit from Santa Claus to light the tree is a classic and cherished tradition.
It’s great to see the community spirit reflected in events like these, where everyone comes together to celebrate the holiday season. The San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce’s gratitude and well-wishes to all involved demonstrate the importance of community collaboration and the positive impact it can have during the holiday season. May the holiday spirit continue to shine brightly on your island community!
