The San Juan Island Community Foundation’s County Fair Matching Grant Program will provide a new dynamic opportunity for San Juan Island school children, developed by our San Juan Islands Museum of Art.

The generous donations have kickstarted the K-8 class docent-led excursions for students and their teachers. We at SJIMA are excited about this expansion of the “classrooms” for our instructors, kids and residents. For each change of museum exhibitions fresh lesson plans and student tours generate even more engagement and diverse experiences.

The power of art is that it can speak to issues when words fail us. The visual is a language children understand and SJIMA will be bringing intriguing worlds to them.
