Letter: ‘I do not have a problem with sharing my harvest. I do have a problem with someone stealing from me’

For the past 10 years, someone has stole upon my property and removed all the apples, ripe for harvest, from my trees. They have done so in the darkness of night or at the light of first dawn. They are obviously islanders, as this has occurred yearly. I do not have a problem with sharing my harvest. I do have a problem with someone stealing from me.

I do not have a problem with sharing my harvest. I do have a problem with someone stealing from me.

If you had knocked on my door and asked me, I would have gladly given you what you needed. Instead you wait until I will not see you, or I am not there, and take what does not belong to you.

Please put half of my harvest back on my porch; you obviously know when you are not likely to be seen.

If you are brave enough to identify yourself, leave a note and next year we can harvest my trees together. That would be the “island way.”
