Our Town — The Centennial, which was so lovingly celebrated a few months ago.

Our Town — small, knit together on a wonderful, beautiful island, enjoying, welcoming visitors for our colorful county fair.

And there, on the busiest, most traveled corner of Our Town, was displayed the symbol of hate, destruction, evil, tyranny, despotism and murder so heinous I can hardly breathe thinking of him.

Yes, Hitler, Adolf Hitler.

Not only that, it was flaunted on the face of our president. Whatever those responsible hoped to say with this display, my reaction was one of horror and disbelief that this was perpetrated in Our Town.

Regardless of one’s political views, this symbol of hate and murder has no place in Our Town.
