An ‘art-ful’ reason to attend, and donate, at Fair | Letters

During the fair, donations to the Community Foundation ear-marked for IMA will be matched 50 percent by the Foundation up to $1,000. All of these donations will be used to assure that local students have the opportunity to experience first- hand the arts in many media as an integral part of their education.

It has been heartwarming to see so many families and individuals turn out this summer for the activities offered by the San Juan Islands Museum of Art (IMA) at our new and permanent museum site on Spring Street (soon to be greatly upgraded).

Furthermore, IMA also helps provide arts education throughout the school year for K-12 students in the San Juan Island School District through a special program, supported by community grants.

IMA is especially grateful to the San Juan Island Community Foundation for highlighting this important program at its booth at the San Juan County Fair.

During the fair, donations to the Community Foundation ear-marked for IMA will be matched 50 percent by the Foundation up to $1,000. All of these donations will be used to assure that local students have the opportunity to experience first- hand the arts in many media as an integral part of their education.

We urge the community to take advantage of this limited time opportunity to strengthen support for this arts program which may inspire our children to a lifetime of appreciation and exploration.
