Sharing mortality as we all do, we also share these vital solutions: San Juan Island emergency medical services, first responders and providers of advanced life support, as well as transport to our own and only hospital, Peace Health Peace Island Medical Center, both of which rely on reciprocal tax support from us.
It doesn’t stop there. As we age, those of us (including me and possibly you now or later) who hope to age at home in familiar surroundings with the views that tell the time of day and season, and perhaps the tide, can do so. Village at Home, a tax-supported service, makes this possible. And those of uncertain balance or memory who need a safe place to live may choose to live at Village at the Harbor, the only assisted living facility in our county, also tax-supported.
The price for continuing these universally needed services and facilities, and to support other health-related organizations, is 20 cents per $1,000 of assessed real estate value. This is a low price for birth services, accident survival and healthy aging. Your support enables you and me to live the rest of our lives on this beautiful island.
Vote for San Juan County Hospital District No. 1 levy lift, Proposition 1.
