The owners of RE/MAX San Juan Island will buy Friday Harbor Realty and the combined offices will become Island Group Sotheby’s International Real Estate, effective July 1. Paul LeBaron, co-owner of RE/MAX, said today all employees of the merged companies will be located in what is now the Friday Harbor House building. LeBaron said he and his RE/MAX partners — Sybil Mager, Travis Mager and Chris Spaulding — are not buying the Friday Harbor Realty building.
San Juan County Planning Commissioner Lovel Pratt has announced her candidacy for San Juan County Council, San Juan South. Pratt is one of three candidates to announce a candidacy for the San Juan South position. The others are Dan Miller Jr., a landscaper and past candidate for the state Legislature and County Commission; and Chuck Rust, a town firefighter and retired Santa Rosa, Calif., parks and recreation director.
Twenty-six teams have signed up for Relay for Life, the local fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The goal is 35 teams. The event is July 25, 5:30 p.m., to July 26 at 11 a.m. on the Friday Harbor High School football field.

There’s a new era in store for the Friday Harbor Food Bank. Located on Market Street, the Food Bank will be open Saturdays, 2-5 p.m., beginning June 7. That’s in addition to its existing hours of operation, Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m.
