Anna Maria de Freitas — a B&B owner, restauranteur and cookbook author — was appointed to the Friday Harbor Town Council today. She succeeds Kelley Balcomb-Bartok, who resigned June 6 to take a communications position at the City of Renton. The term ends Dec. 31, 2009.
`The state Transportation Department’s Ferries Division moved the 90-car ferry Sealth on Wednesday to Anacortes to replace the 144-car Elwha, while repairs are made to the Elwha’s propulsion system.
