San Juan Islands PREPARE presents a screening of “We Feed People,” a Ron Howard-produced documentary featuring World Central Kitchen, the humanitarian organization founded by chef José Andrés. This event takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 5 p.m. at the Grange.

The film follows World Central Kitchen’s rapid-response efforts to feed communities in crisis around the world. Following the screening, a short community discussion will explore how San Juan Island could feed residents and visitors during a prolonged power outage — before outside assistance arrives.

Discussion topics include:

Local food resources and the realistic longevity of supplies.

Off-grid and alternative approaches to preparedness.

The role of charitable and community organizations in disaster response.

The film screening is free. Popcorn, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Suggested donation is $20 to support the development of outdoor community feeding stations on San Juan Island.
