Welcome to the MosaZone, at the San Juan Island Community Theatre in the lobby area, till the end of October. Without an available day to have an opening reception, local artist Mosa Baczewska is having a closing reception on Oct. 30 from 4-7 p.m.
Alchemy Art Center’s own Maria Michaelson is the special guest. Bringing Michaelson’s dream to life, hands emerge from the wall as if from another realm, holding Baczewska’s crochet pouches.
The show features the creative world of Baczewska, where art and imagination intertwine. Baczewska’s work in acrylic, digital art as well as crochet is on display. Baczewska is also the creator of flowetry.
During the Oct. 30 reception, people will have the opportunity to participate in creating four different flowetry floems. (Fractal images will be on tables with the opportunity to add two words inspired by the image.)
Rooted in a lifelong connection to art, Baczewska began exploring digital expression 15 years ago, through photographs, which she transformed into mandalas and collages that play with pattern, color and form.
“In 2013, my journey expanded with the discovery of fractal imagery through JWildfire, revealing a new language of light and structure,” Baczewska said.
After decades away from painting, she returned to the canvas, inspired by the beauty of her island surroundings.
