San Juan Island Community,
I am writing to express my enthusiastic support for Melanie Hess’s re-election to the San Juan Island School District Board of Directors. As a local business owner and a parent of two daughters who have both achieved success in their post-secondary pursuits, I am deeply invested in the quality and direction of our public schools.
Our community’s future depends on the education our students receive — not only in academics, but also in practical skills that prepare them for life beyond graduation. I have seen firsthand how a strong public education system can empower young people to reach their full potential, and I believe Melanie Hess is the right leader to help guide our district forward.
Melanie’s commitment to excellence in education, her professional experience in leadership and organizational strategy, and her active involvement in local nonprofit organizations make her an invaluable asset to our school board. She understands the importance of supporting educators, fostering a culture of inclusion and ensuring that every child has access to opportunities that will help them thrive.
As a business owner, I know that the strength of our local economy is closely tied to the skills and character of our graduates. Melanie’s vision for the district aligns with my belief that our schools should equip students with both academic knowledge and practical abilities, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to our community and beyond.
As a parent, I am grateful for the foundation our public schools have provided my daughters, and I want to see that same level of opportunity extended to every student on San Juan Island. Melanie Hess has demonstrated her dedication to this mission, and I am confident she will continue to serve with integrity, transparency and a genuine passion for our children’s success.
I urge you to support Melanie Hess’s re-election to the School Board. Our students, educators and community will benefit greatly from her continued leadership.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Adam Eltinge
San Juan Island
