Yeah, I know, with all the letters about the upcoming election, this is where I draw the line and take a stand. But seriously, as a former waitress and current eater, I must speak out.
I am referring to the letter to the editor titled “Alarming service, Attitude in some eating establishments.” I am pretty knowledgeable about this, as I try to eat out as often as my budget (and husband) will allow. So I have frequented many, if not all, the restaurants to be had on the island.
What I have found has been courtesy, attentiveness, friendliness and that extra something that always makes you feel at home and welcome … whether it is free donuts while waiting in line at the Rocky Bay Cafe, a special, complimentary new tasty treat to sample at Cafe Demeter, modified menu items made special for my daughters at Backdoor Kitchen and Pablitos Taqueria, or a simple smile and greeting that seem to find us at nearly every eating establishment.
I am grateful for the numerous quality places available. Thank you all!
Mrs. Miller, I hope you give your island another chance, it deserves one. Everyone has an off day, but here we have fewer than most.
