Terry Forsyth, Village at Home employee, performs lifesaving CPR

Submitted by the San Juan County Public Hospital District #1.

Terry Forsyth, a caregiver for Village at Home, performed lifesaving CPR on one of our clients when they went into cardiac arrest earlier this week. Forsyth was caring for the client when suddenly, they dropped to the ground and were not breathing. Immediately, Forsyth began CPR and instructed the client’s partner to call 911. Forsyth did not stop performing CPR until San Juan Island emergency medical services personnel arrived on the scene and were able to take over.

Forsyth’s quick action played a direct role in resuscitating the client and ensuring the safe transfer of care to San Juan Island EMS and, ultimately, air ambulance for transfer off-island. Executive Director of Village at Home Evan Perrollaz noted that, “Moments like these highlight the vital role that proper training and education play in caregiving. Terry is certified in CPR and First Aid and regularly participates in ongoing care training as part of his role with Village at Home. I couldn’t be prouder of the dedication and compassion he brings to his work every day.”

Thank you, Terry, for your dedication to our clients!
