A solo show of Terry Ogle’s diverse work — more than 20 abstracts, acrylics, sketches, watercolors and wood sculptures — opens April 18, 2-5 p.m., in the Harborview Building at First and East streets, next to the ferry landing.

Those in attendance can sign in for a drawing for a painting and a sculpture.

This is Ogle’s first solo show in more than 20 years. His sketches and watercolors are of scenes from the islands — some are done in plein air or in situ, sometimes on the ferry when traveling between the islands and the mainland. That’s a discipline he’s carried over from his experience with the former Sunshine Gallery, when artists would work while staffing.

A majority of the works that will be on exhibit were done in the last two years.

Ogle is a San Juan Island painting contractor. He and his family — dad, Terry W., and children Jon and Grace — are accomplished wood sculptors who compete regularly in the Artistry in Wood Carving Show in Monroe.
