“Americans are tired of career politicians who go to Washington, D.C. to spend other people’s money too easily and who have lost touch with the folks back in Washington State,” the invitation states. “Unfortunately, these politicians do not know what it takes to create jobs, eliminate waste, or balance a budget. It is time we have a real leader who will make bold decisions. Invite all of your friends and neighbors to meet Paul and his family.”

Akers, founder and owner of a product manufacturing company, is one of 15 candidates for the Senate position now held by Patty Murray. Other candidates include Murray, former state Sen. Dino Rossi, and NFL lineman-turned-farmer Clint Didier.

The top two vote-getters in the Aug. 17 primary — regardless of political party affiliation — advance to the Nov. 2 general election.
