I would like to thank all of many volunteers that made this 31st Friends of the Library Summer 2010 Book Sale possible.
I would like to start with thanking the volunteers who sorted, boxed and carried hundreds of boxes of books to our storage area over the past year.
I would then like to thank San Juan County Sheriff’s Office and, specially, Andy Urbach and the Community Service Group, for hauling 7,000 pound of raisers from the high school to the elementary school and back. Those volunteers that tackled some of those 300-pound raisers and then carried the boxes of books to the elementary school. They deserve a special thanks.
Then, the San Juan School District for allowing us to use the elementary school and the custodians at the high school and the elementary school … thanks for helping out.
It then was up to many from the community pool of volunteers, the Friday Walkers Group and the Friends of the Library board members and many library volunteers, to carry hundreds of boxes of books, sort and neatly stack them on the tables.
We also thank King’s Market, MarketPlace and Rocky Bay Cafe for providing the volunteers with refreshments.
Lawson Construction provided us with a load of gravel for our raffle and we thank them for their generosity and support.
Doug MacDonal, we thank you for trucking the left-over books to Orcas and keeping them out of the Friday Harbor recycling bins.
Lastly, a special thanks to my many friends some new and some old who served as cashiers, book measurers, sold raffle tickets and memberships. They know who they are. Your made it look easy and you made me look good.
Thank you all for making this a very successful book sale weekend.
