Puzzled by pick of photos of the past | Letters

I always turn to the obituaries first. What can I say, I’m 84.

I have a question which turns out to be a comment on my disappointment at seeing the picture of someone who has died, possibly a friend — why do people put in a photo of the person at a very young age, someone who was born in, say, 1920 when the current year is 2013?

No one alive will be able to recognize the person. I hope someone responds to my question.
