Greg Sellentin has joined The Journal as a graphic artist for all three of our island papers. He will also work as a sports writer for The Journal.

A native of New York, Greg escaped the city life relatively unscathed and has lived for over 12 years in Alaska in a cabin in the woods with over 50 sled dogs. He has competed in sled dog racing all over Alaska, the Lower 48, Canada, and Scandinavia. Greg retired from the sport in 2013 while ranked third in the world.

While living remotely in Alaska he also published Mushing Magazine – growing it to the largest print and online publication of its kind. In his past life in NYC Greg worked as a photographer, a graphic designer, and eventually ran an agency representing European photographers to the NYC advertising industry. Greg’s other interests which he hasn’t figured out how to make a living from yet are mountain biking, windsurfing, playing guitar and sailing. He now lives in Friday Harbor, and spends his spare time aboard his Sweden 36 sailboat, Sjörå.

“I have always been fascinated with the Pacific Northwest and its year-round sailing, kayaking and adventure opportunities. I’m really excited to be able to bring my design and communication skills to Sound Publishing and be a part of the incredibly welcoming community here on the island,” he said.
