Town public hearing on short-term rentals continued

The Friday Harbor Town Council is accepting public testimony on proposed Ordinance No. 1841, which would establish new regulations for accommodations of 30 days or less. The proposed regulations would apply to hotels, bed and breakfasts, vacation rentals, and other short-term rentals. The Council opened the public hearing on Aug. 6, and continued the hearing to Aug. 20to allow additional time for the public to provide input.

By email to the Town Clerk at clerk@fridayharbor.org. Written testimony must be received before 9 a.m. on Aug. 20.

A six-month moratorium on new transient rental permits within the Town took effect on Dec. 10, 2025. Following a public hearing on Feb. 5, 2026, the Town Council voted to continue the moratorium. The moratorium affects new building permits and land use applications for transient rental accommodations. Existing permitted transient rentals will not be affected.
