The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

July 8

• A San Juan Island deputy took a report of a vehicle theft after a resident said her car had not been returned by an acquaintance who had asked to borrow it for repairs.

• A Lopez Island deputy responded to a hit-and-run collision after a vehicle backed out of a parking space and struck another car at a grocery store.

• A San Juan Island deputy received a report of a vehicle speeding out of Friday Harbor toward Roche Harbor.

• A San Juan Island deputy received a second report of a speeding vehicle near Roche Harbor Road; the report was closed as informational, with no stop made.

• An Orcas Island deputy conducted a welfare check after a neighbor reported an accumulation of packages and an unmoved vehicle at an elderly resident’s home.

• An Orcas Island deputy took a report of roofing material stolen from a job site.

• An Orcas Island deputy took a report of a man seen on a home security camera climbing onto a deck and garage several days earlier.

• A San Juan Island deputy took custody of a found wallet containing identification, credit cards and cash.

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a report of a disruptive individual; the reporting party requested that he be taken into custody without lights or sirens.

• A San Juan Island deputy received a report of a vehicle racing toward Argyle Avenue.

• A San Juan Island deputy responded to an ongoing fireworks complaint near Jackson Beach.

• San Juan Island deputies attempted to stop two motorcycles that fled the area; both got away.

• An Orcas Island deputy received a report of reckless driving after a vehicle was seen passing cyclists on blind curves at high speed on Crow Valley Road.

• A Lopez Island deputy assisted with a scheduled meeting at the request of another agency.

• An Orcas Island deputy assisted Child Protective Services in scheduling a home visit.

• An Orcas Island deputy took a report from a woman with an active restraining order, who said her ex-partner’s associate had appeared at her property and filmed her; she stated the ex-partner had made threats via text about harming her with a firearm.

• A Lopez Island deputy responded to a report of a dog running loose that appeared panicked.

• A Lopez Island deputy took a report of a dispute between neighbors after trees were cut and dropped onto a property.

• A San Juan Island deputy responded to an open 911 line with no verbal response; the caller appeared to be moving, consistent with being in a vehicle.

• A San Juan Island deputy took a report from a tenant alleging a landlord had trespassed, photographed the property and made threats to remove the tenant and her child.

• A San Juan Island deputy responded to a hit-and-run collision on Guard Street.

• A San Juan Island deputy received a report of a vehicle traveling roughly 90 mph near Roche Harbor, nearly losing control on a curve.

• A San Juan Island deputy secured a loose dog found near the Friday Harbor ferry terminal.
