Friday Harbor FC and Island Rec are excited to announce a new partnership. This summer they will offer two new youth soccer camps: Western Washington University Summer Soccer Camp and Summer Soccer Technical Training with Coach Van.

Western Washington University Soccer Camp

At the Western Washington University Soccer Camp, players will receive individual instruction from the 2016 NCAA DII national champs, Western Washington University Women’s soccer coaches and players right here on the island. This co-ed camp is designed for players of all levels, ages 5-15 who want to learn and improve their fundamental soccer skills in a fun and encouraging environment. Focus will be on individual skill development and small group tactical decision making. Camp will be located at the new soccer field at John O. Linde Community Park.

WWU camp schedule:

  • U6-U11: Ages 5-10, 9-11 a.m., Monday July 3 at Linde Park Field, $35.
  • U12-U18: Ages 11-18, 2-4 p.m., Tuesday, July 4 and 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 5 at Linde Park Field, $50.

WWU coaching staff, under the leadership of Travis Connell, will also host a coaching clinic for current or future FHFC coaches from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, for $10.

Summer Soccer Technical Training with Coach Van

Island Rec and FHFC will offer a co-ed, three-week technical training in July to prepare players, ages 10-18, for the fall FHFC soccer season. This technical soccer clinic is designed for the serious young soccer player looking to continually improve their game. This will be an intense, no-nonsense soccer clinic that is competitive and technically focused. Players should come prepared to work hard and learn a lot. Tuesday and Thursday sessions will focus on all field positions while Wednesday sessions will focus on goal keeper and striker training. This program will be instructed by Coach Van, a professionally licensed soccer coach who has numerous years of experience and currently is the coaching director for Friday Harbor Football Club.

FHFC technical training

  • 4-5:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 11 through Thursday, July 27 at Linde Park Field. Register by June 29 for $65 or $5 more after.
