Clarification on PeaceHealth agreement | Letters

(Editor’s note: The following is in reply to a letter entitled ‘Congrats on agreement,’ which ran Nov. 2.)
We are very glad to hear that PeaceHealth and the San Juan Hospital District No. 1 have come to an amended subsidy agreement that permits about $50,000 this coming year to be allocated to necessary health care services that are not being provided by PeaceHealth. This is an important step forward in better addressing un-met community needs. We congratulate the Hospital District and PeaceHealth representatives who concluded this agreement. It is a win-win for the community, PeaceHealth and the Hospital District.
This is to clarify that the proposed agreement that we strongly support between PeaceHealth and San Juan Hospital District no. 1 requires a vote by the hospital district board which is scheduled for the hospital district’s next meeting on November 23.
