Next up in ‘Know Your Island Walk’ series: Take a Hike with Mike

A new trail leading to South Beach will be in the spotlight as the “Know Your Island Walk” series heads to San Juan Island National Historic Park, Saturday. 

Join renown local historian Mike Vouri, chief of interpretation for the National Park, who will lead the hike and discuss the natural and cultural history of the area during a two-mile trek from American Camp to the beach. 

The walk begins at 1 p.m. Meet at the visitors center at American Camp, rain or shine. The terrain is a combination of grass and gravel path, and the trail is rated as moderate. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
