Friday Harbor’s Fletcher Vynne graduates naval candidate school with honors, flight school awaits

John Fletcher Vynne of Friday Harbor graduated with honors form the U.S. Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I., Dec. 3.

Vynne, a 2003 graduate of Friday Harbor High School, is attending the Naval Flight School in Pensacola, Fla.

A standout on the Wolverines baseball team, Vynne attended the University of British Columbia where he helped UBC’s win the NAIA World Series in 2006. He was team captain his senior year at UBC.

Vynne spent this past summer in Wenatachee as an assistant coach for the hometown AppleSox, a summer, collegiate, wood bat baseball team which competes in the West Coast League.
