Giant high school sports weekend ahead

This weekend's marquee prep sports matchup features the Friday Harbor football team seeking to reclaim the coveted Island Cup trophy and its third consecutive win with a victory at home, Friday, over the Vikings of Orcas Island; kick off is 6:45 p.m.

The Friday Harbor girls soccer squad and volleyball team each host Evergreen Lutheran, Saturday, with the action on the Friday Harbor soccer field slated to get under way at 11:30 a.m.

However, this weekend’s marquee prep sports matchup features the Friday Harbor football team seeking to reclaim the coveted Island Cup trophy and its third consecutive win with a victory at home, Friday, over the Vikings of Orcas Island; kick off is 6:45 p.m.

The soccer team, winners of their last two games, including Thursday’s 12-2 victory on the road against Northwest 1A/2B League rival Concrete, are undefeated in league play and 2-1 overall, going into their non-conference match up against the Division 2A Eagles (0-2).

The volleyball team, coming off a hard-fought 3-set loss to Orcas in their season-opener at home, will be looking for win No. 1 of the year in the non-conference clash at home against the Eagles. The match begins at 1 p.m. in Turnbull Gym.
