Orcas Island and Friday Harbor athletes honored in Northwest 2B/1B League Spring Sports Awards

The Northwest 2B/1B League has announced its spring sports awards, recognizing outstanding athletes from both Orcas Island High School and Friday Harbor High School who have been named to the all-league teams.

Orcas Island High School

Baseball:

Calder Jones and Joe Stevens earned first-team honors for their outstanding performances. Jason Rodriguez represented the team on the second team with a strong season. Additionally, the boys’ team sportsmanship award was shared between Orcas and Darrington high schools.

Softball:

Lucia Rios was recognized with a first-team selection for her exceptional contributions on the field. Morgan Anderson was named to the second team for her impressive play throughout the season.

Orcas athletes made a strong showing in this year’s all-league selections, earning recognition across both baseball and softball. Reflecting on the accomplishments, Orcas Athletic Director Paul Steimel said, “The All League Awards for both softball and baseball reflect that we have some solid talent coming up the ranks.”

Friday Harbor High School

Fastpitch Softball:

Friday Harbor had two players named to the first-team all-league: Emerald Hurley and Vera Shoultz, both recognized for their outstanding play this season. Paige Carlton-Flierl earned a spot on the second-team all-league, while Rylee Drew and Lyla Frohm received honorable mention honors for their contributions on the field.

Baseball:

In baseball, junior Jackson Feliz was named the most valuable player for his standout performance throughout the season. Jon Smith was honored as coach of the year, a testament to his leadership and the team’s strong performance. Sophomore Joe Holt earned first-team all-league honors. Representing Friday Harbor on the second team all-league were sophomores Henry Pope and Floyd Holman, senior Triston Bremer and freshman Harrison Edge. Senior Mason Smith received honorable mention recognition for his solid play.
