FH boys and girls varsity basketball took on the Orcas Vikings on Jan. 16, photographer John Stimpson said. It was a hard-fought battle between the teams, with the Orcas Vikings winning both contests. Girls 43-38 and the boys 58-39. This was a league game.

Boys basketball

The Friday Harbor High School boys basketball team faced a tough slate of games in January. The season began on the road with a 67-54 loss at South Whidbey, followed by a narrow 46-44 defeat at home against Class A Granite Falls. The Wolverines bounced back Jan. 6 with a 46-34 victory at Coupeville but struggled against Mount Vernon Christian on Jan. 9, falling 73-35. On Jan. 12, they posted a dominant 49-11 win at La Conner before dropping a close 57-55 game at Darrington on Jan. 13. The month concluded with a 58-39 home loss to Orcas Island, leaving the team 2-14 overall and 2-3 in league play.

Girls basketball

The Friday Harbor High School girls basketball team also faced a challenging stretch of games in January. They opened the month on the road with a 67-54 loss at South Whidbey, followed by a narrow 46-44 defeat at home against Granite Falls. The Wolverines bounced back Jan. 6 with a 46-34 victory at Coupeville but were overpowered by Mount Vernon Christian on Jan. 9, falling 73-35. On Jan. 12, the team posted a strong 49-11 win at La Conner before dropping a tight 57-55 game at Darrington on Jan. 13. The month ended with a 58–39 home loss to Orcas Island. After that stretch, the Wolverines are 4-1 overall and 2-3 in league play.
