San Juan Island Library announces Ferry Tales

Submitted by the San Juan Island Library.

The San Juan Island Library is excited to announce the creation of a new local digital collection! Ferry Tales collects stories and art surrounding our experiences riding the ferry. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad, sometimes hilarious, everyone has a tale about riding the Washington State Ferries. We want to hear yours! Submit a short essay, poem, recording, picture, painting or any other creative submission that narrates your experiences with the ferries. Entries will be added to a digital collection that will be available from the San Juan Island Library.

You can submit your Ferry Tale at sjlib.librariesshare.com/ferrytales.

You can see submitted entries on the library database, Biblioboard, by going to sjlib.org/creators-circle/.

Note that if you are logging in for the first time from home, you’ll need to create a Biblioboard account using a San Juan Island Library card number. Library cards are free of charge to San Juan Island residents.

This collection aligns with the library’s mission to collect and celebrate local art, literature, culture and history. Local digital collections can be explored at sjlib.org/creators-circle, with additional local collections to be announced throughout the year. For more information, please email the Library’s Assistant Director Anthony Morris at amorris@sjlib.org.

Library staff are available for any questions you have. In addition to its collections of books, videos, equipment, games, audiobooks and other materials to loan, the library also provides public access computers, Wi-Fi and a suite of databases that patrons can access in the library or at home. Library hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m.
