Meet Misty – Pet of the Week

Submitted by the Animal Protection Society – Friday Harbor

Hi People of the World! My name is Misty, short for Mysterious…I may not be very old yet, but I’ve had a full life of experiences good and bad so far, and everything in between. Let me tell you a little bit about myself…

Everything started off pretty OK, I was born outside into a colony with lots of other cats. As the days got much colder, I was the last of many of my littermates to be trapped and brought to the shelter for “services.” From that point, I was determined too young and unfit to return to my colony, so ever since then I’ve been working on building my social skills with humans – trying to build trust, knowing that they won’t harm me or take me away from the things that I love most again. They’ve told me that a life outside for a young kitten such as myself probably wouldn’t have been very safe, but to be honest, my heart is still broken. And now I find myself looking for a home that understands heartbreak and is willing to give me that “forever kind of love” that only families can give. In the meantime, I’ll be hanging out in my foster home, practicing my social skills exercises – trying my best to be brave, keep my chin up, and know that I have a special person for me out there somewhere to love. Could it be you?
