Animal Protection Society of Friday Harbor and island resident Suzanne Bryner are raising money for Bunny–a little, female rescue dog at the shelter that has benign tumors on her ears that are beginning to impact her respiratory system.

Bryner stumbled upon the stray, frightened dog now known as Bunny while traveling in California during the holidays. Because she was with her own dog that does not play nice with others, Bryner had no choice but to leave Bunny at the local pound where she would be kept for seven days and euthanized if not claimed.

With the help of the organization “Getting Em’ Home Transport,” and many volunteers, Bunny made her way up the I-5 corridor and was delivered to Everett where Bryner picked her up and brought her to the island.

Bunny is currently at the shelter in Friday Harbor, awaiting  surgery on her ears at a specialty veterinary hospital in Kirkland. Bryner and the animal shelter are able to pay for part of Bunny’s medical expenses, but need help raising funds for the operation which is estimated to cost $3500.

An account has been set up with the crowd-funding website Go Fund Me. To donate to Bunny’s surgert visit, www.gofundme.com/kmdbck.
