Griffin Bay Bookstore hosts poets Jill McCabe Johnson and Tara Mesalik MacMahon

Griffin Bay Bookstore is pleased to welcome you to hear local poets Jill McCabe Johnson and Tara Mesalik MacMahon on Wednesday, April 3 at 3 p.m. in the bookstore café at 155 Spring Street in Friday Harbor.

Hear two local poets share their work. Orcas Island’s prize-winning poet, Jill McCabe Johnson, will read from her new collection, “Tangled in Vow & Beseech,” with a guest appearance from Tara MacMahon. Jill McCabe Johnson is the author of three poetry books, most recently “Tangled in Vow and Beseech” (MoonPath, 2024), a finalist for the Sally Albiso Poetry Prize and Michigan State University’s Wheelbarrow Books Poetry Award. Tara Mesalilk MacMahon won the James Hearst Poetry Prize for Anticipatory Grief as Phases of Moons. She is a PushcartPrize-nominated poet and the author of the collection Barefoot Up the Mountain. She co-authors the children’s fiction series, “The Adventures of Child and Gamma,” with her brother. She lives with her husband and their rescue dog, Hector, on San Juan Island.
