Friends of the Library Tea Party May 11

Submitted by event organizers

In this year of large financial cuts from the federal government, including all funding to museums and libraries, the Friends of the Library are working hard to help our local San Juan Island Library. We make our fundraising as painless as possible, in fact, some of our events are downright fun!

On May 11, from 1:00 to 3 p.m., the Friends are hosting a lovely tea party. This event will have lovingly prepared tea goodies, including hot scones with clotted cream, delicate pastries and of course, the savories including items such as tasty sandwiches of all varieties from special cheese sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches and salmon bites.

Local historian Boyd Pratt will be our ‘tea’ speaker, talking of women in the early years of the San Juan Island. Women from the local indigenous tribes, and early women settlers. Also, the fun things such as the hat contest and drawings.

It will be a joyful event, honoring our mothers, supporting our local library and coming out for a very good time.

Tickets are available on our website online: www.sjlibfriends.org and from any FOL Board member. We will be out and about selling tickets as well. Dust off your garden hat and join the fun!
