For the first time following the pandemic, FHHS students traveled to the University of Washington, Seattle campus to participate in the Washington regional chapter of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl. The “Orca Bowl” is a head-to-head quiz competition that tests students’ knowledge of Ocean Science, Technology, and Policy in a multi-round tournament. Twelve teams from across the state competed in the day-long event, with FHHS dominating the early rounds and ultimately finishing in a highly respectable fourth place.

Funding for transportation, meals, lodging, and registration was generously provided by the FHHS Parent-Teacher-Student Association, San Juan Island Public Schools Foundation, and Washington Sea Grant.
