Friday Harbor High alumn Ahyram Orozco receives educational award

Ahyram Orozco, a recent graduate of Friday Harbor High School, was awarded a $1,000 Educational Support Fund Scholarship to major in Psychology at Seattle University.

Kayleen Rice has a BS in Marine Biology from Principia College and was awarded a $4,000 Chapter IU Foundation Scholarship to participate in a 3½ Doctorate Program in Chiropractics at the Palmer School in San Jose, California.

Kiana Woods recently completed a BS at the University of Idaho and was awarded a $4,000 Foundation Scholarship to participate in a three-year Physical Therapy Doctoral Program at the University of Utah.

Adriana Clifton of Shaw Island is completing her final year of Law School at Seattle U and will be awarded a $3,000 Foundation Scholarship to assist with housing and transportation expenses during her Spring Externship in Olympia, Wa.

Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) is committed to assisting women to achieve their greatest potential through higher levels of education.

Founded in 1869 in Mount Pleasant Iowa, there are now over 6,000 P.E.O. Chapters in the US and Canada with about 230,000 members.

Last April, Chapter IU of San Juan County celebrated its 25th anniversary.
