PHD, stop wasting money | Letters

(Editor’s Note: In a 3-2 vote, the resolution was passed by San Juan County Public Hospital District commissioners to possibly use some of the $50,000 subsidy reduction in draft contract with the Mount Baker Planned Parenthood’s Friday Harbor location.)

Please ask the San Juan County Public Hospital District Commissioners to stop wasting island money. The federal government already gives some of my tax money to Planned Parenthood. I would like my local tax money to go to local groups that actually need the funding. The $50,000 the five commissioners have at their disposal would be better given to local paramedicine, dementia care support, hospice caregiver support to name just a few organizations in need of funds.
