Both Friday Harbor girls and boys basketball teams came out on top in two intense games against rival Orcas in the first district play-off game for the Wolverines yesterday.
The gym was filled to capacity with passionate fans from both islands. There was even an extra inter-island ferry service to shuttle Orcas players and fans home after the games.
The Lady Wolverines dominated the Vikings in all four quarter and pulled off a 31 point win, ending the game at 59–28 win.
The first half of the boys game was more evenly matched, but by the second half, the Wolverines had jumped ahead significantly. The Vikings were plagued by foul trouble which helped lead the Friday Harbor boys to a 54–38 win.
