The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

Oct. 8

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a trespass incident at a business in the downtown Eastsound area. The incident was documented, and the individual was trespassed from the business property.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of trespassing. The involved party had local warrants for their arrest; they were taken into custody and booked into jail.

• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of malicious mischief, where a window was broken out by a juvenile. This case is still under investigation.

Oct. 9

• A deputy was contacted about found property in the San Juan Island area. Two passports were turned over to the Sheriff’s Office. The items were placed into evidence.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for traveling 41 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone. The driver was issued an infraction for speed.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for driving left of center. The driver was issued an infraction.

Oct. 10

• A deputy was dispatched to a death investigation in the Friday Harbor area. The deputy arrived and spoke with the people involved. A death report was completed.

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a child abuse incident and conducted an initial investigation. The deputy learned that the incident occurred in Clallam County. Subsequently, the case was forwarded to the jurisdiction having legal authority over the case.

• A deputy was contacted at the Sheriff’s Office about an assault. The deputy spoke with the person who was reporting two incidents that occurred last month. Follow-up is required. A report was taken.

• A deputy was contacted about an unwanted person in the San Juan Island area. A business was requesting that a person be served with a trespass warning letter. A letter was prepared and signed. A report was taken.

• A deputy was contacted about a theft in the San Juan Island area. The person was reporting that a package had been taken from their mailbox sometime in the past week. A report was taken.

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a DUI incident near the ferry landing. The deputy investigated and learned that the suspected driver was impaired. Subsequently, the driver was arrested for physical control of a vehicle while under the influence.

• A San Juan deputy responded to Kings Market regarding a request to trespass a person. They had been caught shoplifting and were to be permanently trespassed from all Valmark LLC properties. A form was completed and issued to the offending party.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle as the driver had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was issued citations for driving while license suspended in the third degree and driving without an ignition interlock device. An infraction was issued for no insurance.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of fraud. A counterfeit $50 bill was used at a local business. The bill was placed into evidence, and there are no known suspects at this time.

Oct. 11

• An individual accidentally called 911 and sounded intoxicated. The individual was heard driving, and a deputy located the vehicle, observing that the owner was not licensed and was crossing the fog line. The deputy conducted a traffic stop, and the driver was arrested for DUI.

• A deputy on Orcas Island responded to a trespassing complaint. The complainant and a witness were contacted, and a report was authored.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for traveling 40 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone. The driver was issued an infraction for speed.

Oct. 13

• A Lopez resident was issued an infraction for speeding, 65 mph in a 25 mph zone, and no proof of vehicle insurance.

Oct. 14

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a trespassing incident at a business in Eastsound. The deputy authored a report, and if the trespasser enters the business property again, charges will be filed with the ProsecutingAttorney’s Office.
