This year marks a major milestone for the Joyce L. Sobel Family Resource Center: 25 years of serving the San Juan Island community. Since becoming a nonprofit in 2000, the Resource Center has supported thousands of islanders — offering everything from parenting support and youth mentoring to emergency assistance, child care, recovery support and more.
At the heart of our work is a deep belief in the power of community, care and connection. To celebrate a quarter-century of walking alongside neighbors through life’s challenges and celebrations, we’re throwing a birthday party — and everyone is invited!
Join the celebration: Sunday, Sep. 14, from 2-4 p.m. at Brickworks.
What to expect:
• Games and prizes for kids and adults.
• Cupcakes, cookies, and delicious appetizers.
• A classic cake walk and festive birthday hats.
• Hands-on screen printing with Alchemy Arts – bring your own T-shirt or buy one on-site and leave with a fun JLSFRC design.
• Kid karaoke, marimba music, and so much more!
This celebration isn’t just about marking the years — it’s about honoring the people, programs, services and stories that have shaped who we are today. For 25 years, JLSFRC has stood beside our community, helping islanders of all ages navigate life’s transitions with compassion and support.
Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or are just getting to know what we do, we’d love for you to join us — bring the whole family, your friends and your party spirit. Let’s celebrate the community we’ve built together and look ahead to what the next 25 years might bring.
