Citizens are encouraged to begin their participation in the Town’s 2025 Comprehensive Plan update by visiting the Town’s booth at the San Juan County Fair. This will be the first of several opportunities for the public to voice opinions on future planning for the town. This is also a chance to meet Town planning staff and the Town’s climate planning consultant.

Future community engagement activities will include pop-up events, surveys, workshops, and public meetings. “By clearly articulating a plan by and for our community, we will be able to protect the town’s character, scale, and identity,” said Town Community Development and Planning Director Ryan Ericson. “We have outreach events planned at each milestone of this process as public participation is key to creating a strong comprehensive plan.”

Upon completion of extensive research, community outreach, and public meetings, the Town’s Comprehensive Plan Update will be scheduled for adoption in December 2025. The current Comprehensive Plan, engagement events, and other updates will be posted on the Town’s website at www.fridayharbor.org.
