Montessori School closes – Otto retires | Letter

Dear SJI Community,

After starting and then directing the Children’s House Montessori School on SJI for 32 years I have now retired.

I am honored to have known and shared time with so many island children and their families in this community. They have given me untold joy and happiness. I now have many wonderful memories to keep me smiling!

I thank everyone who sent me photos and notes about their memories of CHMS. I have read and reread each one of them while remembering the 3 or 4-year-old — now a big kid or an adult.

I hope each alumni child and adult continues to be a lifelong learner with the kindness of an open mind and a willingness to listen.
