In response to Mr. Michael Hansen’s assessment of teachers and teacher unions.
I am very interested to hear his explanation as to why we (the US) are #24 in Science, #39 in Mathematics, and #24 in Reading when compared to other nations.
Ref: Pew Research Center.
I have had the pleasure and privilege of being taught by some great teachers, and I have witnessed teachers coming into class with a hangover, if not intoxicated. I have had teachers that could not pass the exams they gave their students. The list is long.
Unless the teacher’s union, or our education system as a whole, does not cleanse itself of such poor teachers, we will remain at the bottom, when it comes to education.
