First day of school for San Juan, Orcas, Lopez and Shaw

On the heels of the San Juan County Fair comes the onset of a new islands’ school year. Below are the dates for the first day of school for San Juan, Orcas, Lopez and Shaw:

•San Juan Island

Griffin Bay: Thursday, Aug. 30

Paideia Classical School: Tuesday, Sept. 4

San Juan Island School District: Thursday, Aug. 30

Spring Street International School: Tuesday, Sept. 4

Stillpoint School: Tuesday, Sept. 4

• Orcas Island

OASIS: Wednesday, Sept. 5

Orcas Christian School: Monday, Aug. 27, half day.

Orcas School District: Wednesday, Sept. 5, with a noon release, and kindergarten, Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Salmonberry School: Tuesday, Sept. 4.

• Lopez Island

Lopez Island School District: Tuesday, Sept. 4, and kindergarten on Friday, Sept. 7.

• Shaw Island

Shaw Island School District: Tuesday, Sept. 4.
