Vote balances PHD subsidy | Letters

I write to thank hospital district commissioners Bill Williams, Monica Harrington and Barbara Sharp for voting to explore a contract with Planned Parenthood. Using up to $50,000 to provide reproductive health care services, especially birth control and STD education and testing, is a worthwhile expense.
The hospital district pays over $1 million of its tax revenues to a Catholic institution; contracting with Planned Parenthood for a little over 4 percent of that balances things out a bit.
