Double-bill up next in live-opera streaming series

The next The Met: Live in HD at San Juan Community Theatre is a double feature of an enchanting fairy tale, and an erotic psychological thriller, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m.
Tchaikovsky’s “Iolanta” and Bartok’s “Bluebeard’s Castle,” is sure to entertain the seasoned opera-lover, and the most novice.
Soprano Anna Netrebko takes on the heroine in Iolanta. She stars as the beautiful blind girl who experiences love for the first time.
Nadja Michael is the unwitting victim of the diabolical Bluebeard, played by Mikhail Petrenko, in Bluebeard’s Castle.
Both operas are directed by Mariusz Trelinski, who was inspired by classic noir films of the 1940s. Valery Gergiev conducts both operas.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for SJCT members and $10 for student reserved.
