The Friday Harbor softball team notched three consecutive victories last week to move beyond the .500 mark and recapture some much-needed momentum with five games left in regular-season play.

The Wolverines took full advantage of an inexperienced Darrington squad Saturday at home to sweep back-to-back games in a league double header. They shutout the lowly Loggers 10-0 in clinching the opener in six innings, and then downed the visitors 20-2 in the closing game.

“We needed this,” Head Coach Kevin Carlton said. “We hit well, we fielded well and pitched well, and we needed that to get some of our confidence back.”

Friday Harbor improved to 6-3 in Northwest 1A/2B League play and 8-7 overall with the pair of victories on Saturday and a 14-9 victory in a closely-contested game on the road April 21 at Concrete.

The Wolverines will need all the momentum they can muster over the next five regular-season games. They host perennial 1A powerhouse Cedar Park Christian at home Saturday in a doubleheader and close out the regular season against league-leading La Conner at home May 9 in a doubleheader, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
