Three Wolverines scored goals in Friday Harbor’s 5-2 win over North Sound Christian, Tuesday at Friday Harbor.

The Wolverines are now 7-2 overall, and remain undefeated in league play.

“This match played itself much as have many others this season,” Coach Mark Fishaut said. “Our girls dominated all aspects of play but had difficulty finding the back of the net.”

Whitney Porter scored first off the crossbar with an assist by Elle Guard. The Wolverines then took a 2-0 lead with Clara Brand’s finish from Alex MacDonald.

A corner was yielded just before the half and a free kick just into the second half and suddenly it was 2-2 with the Lions showing some new energy. Time and again, shots were taken with nothing to show for it — by game’s end, Friday Harbor had 48 shots on goal, compared to North Sound’s 5.

At about the 60th minute, MacDonald was fouled at the NSC 18 with no call. Friday Harbor paid back with a goal by Larissa Nash, crushed from 30 yards back. Within the next 10 minutes, Porter scored her 16th season goal on a cross from Alex Freeman, and then her and 17th.

Next: The team has the rest of the week off, followed by major tests against rivals La Conner and Orcas next week.
