The Friday Harbor Wolverines used several formidable barriers, like Connor Haines, No. 14, and Chris Gustafson, No. 24, to stop the La Conner Braves in their tracks on Sept. 17. The Braves were unable to score giving the Wolverines an overwhelming win of 63-0. This was the first district game.
Both teams were confronted with up to 40 mph winds. With 2:42 remaining in the 1st quarter the field lights flickered out. The game continued in the semi-darkness until time ran out in the first quarter. There was a several-minute delay in play while the electrical problem was found and the lights were turned back on. Fortunately, the rain forecasted earlier did not materialize until minutes after the game ended.
The next game will be, against Vancouver (Washington) Seton Catholics, on Friday, Sept. 24 at Kings School in Seattle at 4:30 p.m. A nondistrict game.
