Friday Harbor Volleyball Varsity won their game against Orcas Island and Darrington this week with a 3-0 win and 3-1 win, respectively.

The team is now 6-0 heading into a contest with the defending league champs from last year on Tuesday at Laconner High School.

According to Coach Travis Mager, the team has suffered from injuries and illnesses.

“It shows a lot about their character and their will to be able to overcome all of these obstacles and still find a way to win their contests,” Mager said.

He credited Lili Wood with contributing her energy to the team, and carrying them through their games. Madi Kincaid has been playing hurt and she is absolutely keeping us in games with her keen sense of anticipation and court awareness.

Sara Rist has also been filling in at multiple positions when either the illnesses of injuries have affected the team. Mager said she has been a big part of the reason why the team has been able to do accomplish so much this season.

“Hopefully we can put this behind us and get back to full strength and finish the season strong,” Mager said. Either way the team has put up some intense energy for the last few games, holding out for a win each time.

The team has an upcoming home game against Evergreen Lutheran today at 1 p.m. at Friday Harbor High School Turnbull Gymnasium and another home game on Sept. 29 against Grace Academy.
