Friday Harbor senior Riley Rousar sparkled down the stretch to claim second place in the Northwest 1A/2B/1B League Championship at the Gallery Golf Club in Oak Harbor, Friday, May 1.

After shooting 48 on the front nine, Rousar clinched the Northwest league runner-up position by shaving six strokes off that total on the back nine, for a 42, and finishing with a 90 over 18 holes, three strokes behind Cedar Park Christian’s Ben Reidy, who captured the league crown with an 87.

With the league runner-up medal in the bag, Rousar will advance to compete in the District 1 tournament Thursday, May 9, at North Bellingham. Michael Reeve of Lopez Island shot a 93 to finish third among the 36 golfers competing at the district championship. The Lobos finished first and Friday Harbor finished fifth among the seven teams participating in league finals.

Friday Harbor’s Keegan Hebert shot a 110, 20th, and Jess Hargrove finished 24th, with a 118.
