Herko hurls three-hitter, Allen, Lawson deliver RBIs in one-run win | Prep baseball

Sophomore Kai Herko scattered three hits over seven innings and seniors Brandin Allen and Gabe Lawson delivered a pair of clutch, run-scoring base hits to lead Friday Harbor to a closely contested 2-1 victory on the road over 2A Bellingham.

Sophomore Kai Herko scattered three hits over seven innings and gave up jut one run to post his second win of the season and lead Friday Harbor to its fourth consecutive victory, a narrow 2-1 win on the road, April 2, over division 2A Bellingham.

The Wolverines (5-1) snapped a scoreless tie in the sixth inning as seniors Brandin Allen and Gabe Lawson drove in one run apiece in what would prove to be game-winning back-to-back RBIs. The Red Raiders (2-8) scored their only run of the game in the bottom half of the sixth to trim the deficit to a single run, but that’s as close as they would get.

Senior Peter Holt had two base hits, including a double, and James Guard had three.

“It was a great team win with some outstanding defense, good pitching and clutch hits,” Coach Rich Warin said.

The Wolverines notched their third win in league play two days earlier in a 10-0 rout in five innings at home over Darrington.
